Joan P. Steele, 67, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:20 A.M. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at her residence.

She was born on February 16, 1949 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Robert D. “Bob” and Hazel Marie (Boldry) Leavell. On December 27, 1980, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, she married Wayne E. Steele and he survives.

Joan was a 1967 graduate of Caston High School and attended Indiana Business College in Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked at Farmers and Merchant Bank/Indiana Lawrence Bank, retiring from the Trust Department. She attended the First Baptist Church, Rochester, Indiana where she was a member of the Koinonia Class, was past President of Tri-Kappa Sorority, Secretary of  Fulton County Republican Women, and Board member of the United Way and the Fulton County Community Foundation. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and decorating.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Steele, Rochester, Indiana, children, Ryan and wife Kara Steele, Batesville, Indiana, Lindsey and husband Sean Mulholland, Noblesville, Indiana,  grandchildren, Bentley Mulholland, Hadley Mulholland, Noblesville, Indiana, Micah Steele, Batesville, Indiana, and one granddaughter, due any day, who will be named Joanna Nadine Steele, brothers, Joe and wife Alice Leavell, Westfield, Indiana, Jerry and wife Betty Leavell, Rochester, Indiana, Jack and wife Nancy Leavell, Cary, North Carolina, Jeff and wife Diane Leavell, Wildwood, Missouri,  one sister, Judy and husband Ken Uiselt, Mercer, Pennsylvania, mother-in-law, Olive Steele, Crawfordsville, Indiana, sister-in-law, Janet and husband Bob Smiley, Crawfordsville, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Geist Christian Church, Fishers, Indiana, First Baptist Church, Rochester, Indiana, or North Stuart Baptist Church, Stuart, Florida.
