James O. Perdue, 78, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 5:20 P.M. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Indiana.

He was born in Rochester, Indiana on September 26, 1938, the son of Henry and Glenna (Altice) Perdue. On March 15, 1980, he married Joan Jamison Hudson in Claypool, Indiana, and she survives.

Jim started his working career with Wabash County R.E.M.C. in Wabash, Indiana and then worked for Carroll County R.E.M.C. in Delphi, Indiana. He also had his own business, Perdue Electric Heating and Cooling, in Delphi, Indiana. He retired from Midwest Energy in Cassopolis, Michigan and for many years after retirement he worked at Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, Indiana. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. In his spare time he enjoyed golf and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Perdue, Rochester, Indiana, son, Phillip and wife Melissa Perdue, Norfolk, Virginia, Daughter, Kari Blackley, Indianapolis, Indiana, step-daughter, Sonya Hudson, Lafayette, Indiana, grandchildren, Tia and Carmen Blackley, Indianapolis, Indiana, brother, Stephen and wife Jane Perdue, Logansport, Indiana, sisters,  Donna Tyler, Rochester, Indiana, Linda Mollencupp, North Manchester, Indiana, Glenda and husband Jerry Flory, Tippecanoe, Indiana and his canine pal, Sammy. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Audrey Hildebrand, Maxine Perdue, Edna Bitzell, brother, Bobby Perdue, and brother-in-law, Billy Tyler.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday November 25, 2016 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans’ Honor Guard.
