After I spoke to Jim I believe on the same day he went home. My wife and I prayed every night for his complete recovery. I worked with Jim at North Miami HS for several years and we shared many a laugh about arrowheads woodworking and students. I am so sorry and sad on hearing of Jim's death. I do know that he was a genuine human being who gave and loved and lived for others. My sincere sympathy and condolences to Katy and family on losing in this life a very dear person. I believe we will live and love and laugh again in heaven with the Father and his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Sincerely,
Charlie Spear

Dear Katie & Family,

We never did not officially meet you, but saw you both quite often on Sunday mornings at Bethel Valpo Church supporting your son, Kyle. and his family. It was obvious how much you both valued and loved your family. May Father's comforting love bring you strength and peace as you grieve this loss in all of your lives.
With love & sympathy, Nancy & Bill

All we kids in the neighborhood loved "Felke Jim" as we called him. He was so kind to us as we ran up and down the Greenhouse aisles. He always had a smile and all the students he taught were certainly lucky to have him as their teacher. He and my brother Rick shared so many good times including coming up to Michigan at the cottage and camping on the beach. The world needs more "Felke Jims".

Katie and Family, my sympathy is with all of you. Jim was a childhood friend and a special person in my life. We were teammates in high school on the Track team. Played Baseball in Little League. We drove across the Midwest to Colorado to be in another friends wedding. What a great-time skiing. The years have passed so quickly, yet Jim and I would seem to meet at the rarest occasions as if the Good Lord wanted us to reconnect and catch up on family, and life. May the Lord comfort you and the family in the days ahead. My prayers will be for you.

Dear Katie and Family,
Please know that all of you are in our thoughts at this difficult time. . . For anyone who didn't know him, all you would have needed to do was just meet his kids, some of the nicest people in the world, and then you would have understood what a great guy he was.
God bless, Linda and Sue

Jim was a good professional. He was a consistent teacher, a stern disciplinarian, and a trustworthy servant of the public. He was a believer in work ethic, and he fostered good work from his student clientele. It was good to have had the privilege of being a fellow teacher. It's a hard lesson to learn that we do not belong to each other as profoundly as we ALL belong to God. When He will have us return unto Him, it is by His appointment (Hebrews 9:27). I pray that God looks upon him kindly unto eternity.--Howard L. Whittlesey

Jim was a wonderful guy to talk to and so full of life. He and I shared relic collecting in common. He was a wealth of knowledge and insight, and he and I conversed at length at many shows. He was highly respected by all of us, will be greatly missed in the collecting community.

What a great man! He was very influential for my teenage son while in high school. If my son found him highly worthy of respect, the man earned it. He treated my son with respect while strongly encouraging him as a student and in his studies. He was also his friend. You lost a great person! My deepest sympathy.

I'm sorry for your loss. Mr. Felke was an amazing coach and teacher. I had the pleasure of running for him and learning to drive with him. I have memories of both that make me smile when I think of him. He influenced many lives and has left quite a legacy.

I wrote this many years ago after the passing of a special friend. I hope that it gives you the comfort that it has given me.

Angel In Season
You now have your own private angel
To watch over you. When the warmth of the sun
Falls onto your skin, you will feel his warmth.
The gentle breeze of spring will bring
Fond memories of him.
When the flowers sprout, that is he,
Telling you there is new life.
Sometimes you see a rainbow and know
He is saying he is with you.
He is never far away when you see
A leaf drop from a mighty tree.
The cold blast of winter is there
To tell you to wake up and live a full life.
When you need him you can always look
To the sky and see a special cloud
To let you know you are still in his thoughts.
He is at peace and though you don’t think you
Will ever be, he has ways of telling you that he is ok
And you will be too!

I wanted to express my condolences to Mr. Felke's family. He was a wonderful teacher and an amazing person. My late husband, Dana Lytle, followed in his footsteps and became an Industrial Arts/technology teacher. I am sure Dana was a challenge, but he did respect Jim and learned so much in his classes! Prayers for your family at this difficult time.

I was a collegue of Jim's at North Miami for theentire time that he taught there. We retired together in 2010. I wasn't a close friend, but learned to appreciate his smile and sense of humor. He was very proud of his family, and itnis obvious that he rid a great job in raising his children. Jim touched many lives in his years at North Miami both in the classroom and on the athletic field.

I know that Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends as he was a great individual. You have my sincere condolances on his passing. It was my privilege to have had the opportunity to know Jim and work with him for many years.
