OMG, my childhood just flashed before my eyes. Mom called to tell me of Esther's passing. First of all, to Liz, Bill, Mike and Susie, my deepest sympathy. To their children and grandchildren, well I don't know you and you don't know me, but I really enjoyed seeing all of your pictures in the memorial video. I grew up in the house across the road. What memories I have of the Walsh family! I was an only child, just 2 years older than Liz, and I was kind of the 5th child at the Walsh house. We stood together every morning waiting for the school bus. We played together every day. We went sledding on my grandparent's hill; we got covered with poison ivy exploring the beautiful neighborhood where we lived. We played paper dolls and cards hour after hour. Dale's mother, Grandma Walsh would spend her summers with them and she would sit outside and knit all day long while we ran and played all over the spacious yard. Esther would make us bologna and ketchup sandwiches for lunch. We played baseball in my yard. We didn't have bases or even gloves, and never enough people, but we sure had fun! One of my funniest memories was when Esther was canning beets and the canner blew up, spraying beet juice all over the ceiling. No, that wasn't funny for Esther, but the fact that Danny Weaver ran home screaming because he thought it was blood, made even Esther laugh about it. I remember going to Talma to visit Esther's parents. Liz gave me a complete tour of Ossie's fabulous outhouse. There were seats for everybody. We played for hours amid giant cardboard blocks in the basement and rode our bikes up and down the driveways. In high school, Liz and I drove once a week to Mexico to take guitar lessons. We went one evening when we should have stayed home. My car slid right off the icy country road. Fortunately, a very nice farmer got his tractor out and rescued us and we went on to our lesson. My parents never even knew. The Walsh family really knew how to have fun. They went camping every weekend. I stayed home and fed their dog, Fritz. One of the highlights of my childhood was when they took me camping with them at Bass Lake one long 4th of July weekend. Another time, Esther bought me a dress as a thank you for feeding Fritz. It was my favorite dress for a long time. What wonderful memories! What a blessing it was to have had this family in my life! The last time I saw Esther was probably in 2009 when my parents sold their house. She was in her kitchen cutting up a water melon for a family gathering. She was wonderful as always. I will always remember her like that. Blessings to all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Dale are together again, camping and fishing in heaven.

She was a wonderful woman and will be missed. Many memories of playing with Liz, Bill, Mike, and Sue. Some of the euchre-playin'est people I've ever met. A highlight of my youth was getting to stay overnight at their house. Rest in peace dear Aunt Esther.
