Billy D. “Mac” McMillen 76, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 7:45 A.M. Saturday January 28, 2017 at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born on January 2, 1941 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Gerald D. and Florence E. (Gruwell) McMillen. A 1959 graduate of Rochester High School, he was Class President for two years, a varsity basketball letterman and active in the Future Farmers of America. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Indiana University. On July 2, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rochester, he married Patricia J. McLochlin and she survives.

Mr. McMillen had been an educator at Steger, Illinois, Triton Schools in Bourbon, Indiana, North Miami Schools, Denver, Indiana and retired as school counselor for Rochester Community Schools after fifteen years. At the conclusion of his work days at school, he spent many years working his family farm. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. In his leisure time, he played a mean drum version of "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley, and he enjoyed genealogy, golf, fishing, camping, following the Chicago Cubs and Indiana University Basketball, and spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia J. McMillen, Rochester, Indiana, children, Colleen Wood, Carmel, Indiana, Brad McMillen, Rochester, Indiana, Sheila and husband Too Keller, Carmel, Indiana, grandchildren, Alyssa Wood, student at Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana, Grant Wood, student at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, Gabbi Pinegar, Carmel, Indiana, Luke, Lauren and Karli Keller, all of Carmel, Indiana, brother, Gary McMillen, Evart, Michigan, several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved canine companion, Lucy his golden doodle. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday February 3, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester, Indiana, with Father Michael McKinney officiating. Friends may call from 3-7 P.M. Thursday February 2, 2017 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.
