Velma Sue Rigney 81, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:45 P.M. Saturday January 1, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on December 8, 1940 in Fulton County, Indiana, the daughter of Omer “Bob” and Sara “Hazel” (Rockey) Zartman. On April 30, 1960 in Fulton, Indiana, she married James E. Rigney and he survives.
Mrs. Rigney had worked at Hart, Schaffner & Marx, Rochester, Indiana and spent twenty seven years working for Caston Schools, Fulton, Indiana. She had attended the Fulton Baptist Temple and had been a member of the Blacktop Cruisers Car Club for over twenty five years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Rigney, Rochester, Indiana, children, Dan (Michelle) Rigney, Macy, Indiana, Dennis (Kimberly) Rigney, Rochester, Indiana, Shelly (Terry) Southerton, Kokomo, Indiana, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Virginia Reed and brothers, Von Mike Zartman and Thomas V. Zartman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home in Fulton, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
