Roy E. Imel

Roy E. Imel 79, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on February 14, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Joseph H. and Lois L. (Budd) Imel. On February 23, 1963 in Knox, Indiana, he married Shirley Ruth Hazen and she survives.

Roy had been a machinist at Sealed Power for over thirty five years in Rochester and briefly worked for the Dana Corporation, Richmond, Indiana. After retiring, he worked at Mystic Hills Golf Course, Culver, Indiana. He had been a member of the Rochester Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a Board member and the Eagles Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley R. Imel, Rochester, Indiana, children, Sheila (Don) Wright, Leiters Ford, Indiana, Rick (Lydia) Imel, Elkhart, Indiana, Suzette (Dave) Zimmerman, Warsaw, Indiana, twenty four grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, sister, Rose Britton, Phoenix, Arizona, brothers, Bill Imel, South Bend, Indiana, Ron (Betty) Imel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, David Imel.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Monday, October 25, 2021 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana, with Pastors Don Meyer and Paul Pletcher officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Eagle Creek Cemetery, Knox, Indiana.
