Ralph L. Gunter

Ralph L. Gunter 89, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 9:30 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on October 1, 1933 in Grass Creek, Indiana, the son of Cecil and Ruth (Ford) Gunter. On July 18, 1954 at the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton, Indiana, he married Janet Dillman and she survives.

Mr. Gunter had served with the United States Army from 1955 to 1963.  He retired from Kaiser Chemical in Fulton, Indiana and worked with the startup of Buckeye Parachute in Argos, Indiana. He was a member of Riverview Community Church. He had been a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his Piper Cub, Cessna and Bi-Plane Ultralights, many that he had made. He was a long- time member of the FAA and EAA. He was a master of many talents and was always willing to help those in need. In his leisure time, he enjoyed oil painting, specifically painting nautical themes or Currier & Ives themes, and fly fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Gunter, Rochester, Indiana, children, Rodney (Isabel) Gunter, Peru, Indiana, Connie Reffitt (Russell Oberg), Macy, Indiana, Mark Gunter, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Jennifer (Brandon) Seyer, Mentone, Indiana, seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and five great- great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Virgil Gunter, Russell Gunter, Raymond Gunter, Harold Gunter, George Gunter, Richard Gunter, sisters, Marjorie Easterday and Mildred Mullins, and granddaughter, Stephnie Jo Reffitt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Riverview Community Church, 3780 Indiana State Road 110, Tippecanoe, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverview Community Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com
