Maurice E. “Butch” Sutton 71, Ora, Indiana, and longtime Fulton, Indiana, resident, passed away at 11:11 A.M. Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Northwest Health, LaPorte, Indiana.
He was born on March 7, 1951 in Rochester, Indiana the son of George “Pete” and Hazel (Click) Sutton. On May 10, 1974 at the Fletcher’s Lake United Methodist Church, he married Rita A. Camp. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2021. On October 9, 2021 in Fulton, Indiana, he married Catherine McClanahan and she survives.
Butch worked for over thirty eight years for the Fulton County Highway Department and had also served as a Volunteer Fireman with the Fulton-Liberty Township Fire Department. He had also served Fulton as Town Marshall. He had attended Solid Rock Church and had been a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed going to movies, parks, taking his dogs to Dairy Queen, and dining out for supper. He dearly loved all his canine pals, Sophia, Bella, Samantha, Holly, Buster and Daisy Mae.
Survivors include his children, David (Lisa) Sutton, Fulton, Indiana, Robert Fred Jr., Peru, Indiana, Charles Ward, Ora, Indiana, grandchildren, Lizzie (Freddie) Jiminez, Ohio, Haley Ward, South Bend, Indiana, brother, James (Arvella) Sutton, Fulton, Indiana, sister, Nina Krisher, Anderson, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Shirley Felda and Jane Reames.
Private services and interment will take place in Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com
