Larry Dean Smith 83, Rochester, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 6:05 A.M., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on June 15, 1940, in Rochester, Indiana, the son of George and Helen (Pickens) Smith. He is proceeded in death by his parents, three sisters, Irene Miller, AnnaRuth Taylor, Carolyn Abrams as well as a daughter, Debra Jean. Larry was married to his beloved wife, Carol Hibner for 64 years. They had six children: Debra Jean, Patricia (Marvin) Funk, Macy, Indiana, Susan (Steve) Duff, Bourbon, Indiana, Larry G. Smith, Rochester, Indiana, Trevor Smith, Rochester, Indiana, Lora Johnson-Smith, Rochester, Indiana, as well as two bonus kids he raised, Destiny Miller-Rice and Crystal Smith. He was blessed with many grandchildren, Gessica (Rick) Absi, Gregory P. Brown, Darrien (Merissa) Duff, Brianna (Bryce) Barrus, Emily (Johnathan) O’Dell, Dustin (Chelsie) Smith, Zach (Taylor) Smith, Destiny Rice, Crystal Smith, Ashlee Smith, Cody Johnson, Justin Jordan, Ryan Johnson Jordan, thirty great grandchildren and counting.

Larry was a hard- working man, he started Smith Trash Removal in 1968 before that he delivered newspapers, set up pins at the bowling alley as well as worked at the foundry. He enjoyed going to auctions, spending time with his family, horseback riding with his precious granddaughter Crystal as well as camping at yogi.
