Judy Zent Obituary

Judy Vernon Zent 77, Rochester, Indiana, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 1:09 A.M., Monday, February 24, 2020, at Wynnfield Crossing, where she had lived for the past year and a half.

On April 11, 1942 in Hammond, Indiana, Judy Lyn Vernon was born to John and Martha Walters Vernon. Growing up, Judy shared many wonderful times with younger sister Vicki.

Judy was a proud Zebra, graduating in 1960 from Rochester High School. She enjoyed being Miss Fulton County 1959 and cheering for her favorite sports teams! After high school she attended Indiana University for one year. Judy was honored to be a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She followed boyfriend, Ron Zent, to Silver City, New Mexico, where they married and graduated with teaching degrees. Judy was the secretary and keeper of records for Western New Mexico Mustang Reunions. She was proud of the Indiana group that attended Western New Mexico and kept in contact with many.

From Ron and Judy’s union came two boys, Jeff and Scott. Judy’s true pleasure were her boys and watching them play any sport. She taught at Riddle Elementary School and Rochester Middle School and coached girls’ volleyball. After teaching, Judy moved to Carmel, Indiana to work for I.U.P.U.I until her retirement. She liked shopping in Carmel and having friends and neighbors in for Christmas snacks.

Judy moved back to Rochester to be close to the great grandkids. She enjoyed class reunions, visiting West Virginia to watch Scott and Cooper play soccer and tennis. She loved reminiscing about high school and the early years. She was a member of Tri Kappa and Grace United Methodist Church.

Judy is survived by sons, Jeff and wife Wendy Zent, Rochester, Indiana, Scott Zent, Charleston, West Virginia, grandchildren, Ashley (Evan) Young, Ren (Staci) Zent, Whitley (Koby) Moser, and Cooper Zent, great grandchildren, Zaine, Gavin, Quinnley, Rylan, Adelyn, Wiley and two babies coming in August.
