Joyce L. Dawald

Joyce L Dawald, 96, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 7:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Wampler Senior Home, LLC, Bourbon, Indiana.  

She was born December 11, 1929, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, to the late William and Florence (Lancer) Koeck.  On June 21, 1952 she married Richard Dawald, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2005.   Joyce is survived by her her five daughters, Laura Dawald, Rochester, Indiana, Holly Swanson (Jeff), South Bend, Indiana, Cheri (Greg) Potter, Carmel, Indiana, Julie Beckman (Rick),  Louisville, Kentucky, and Peg (Greg) Cifizzari, Carmel, Indiana, six grandchildren, Jeff (Megan) Swanson, Chicago, Illinois, Benjamin Potter, Carmel, Indiana, KC Cifizzari, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Neil (Cassie) Beckman, Louisville, Kentucky, Kirsten (Nolan) Swanson, Louisville, KY, Michael Cifizzari, Carmel, Indiana and two great grandchildren, Sailor Cifizzari, Carmel, Indiana and Liam Beckman, Louisville, Kentucky, brother, James Koeck, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Koeck, and William Koeck. 

 Early in her professional career she taught high school English and Physical Education. Later on, Joyce and Dick owned and operated Dick’s Drive-In in Rochester, Indiana for over 40 years. They made many wonderful long- lasting friendships operating the drive-in.   She was a 1951 graduate of the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She loved spending the holidays with family and cooking those special holiday meals. She and Dick loved going to Tavares, Florida every winter. Card playing and reading were her passion. She was always available to play a hand of Bridge or Pinochle.  Her family was everything to her and she will be greatly missed. The family wishes to say thank you for the loving and compassionate care extended to Joyce and the family by the staff at Wampler’s Senior Home, Bourbon, Indiana.
