Janis Sue Mayhew

Janis Sue Mayhew 86, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:08 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Hickory Creek of Rochester.

She was born on July 3, 1939 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Russell and Joy M. (Geiger) Tilden. On July 24, 2005 in Rochester, Indiana, she married Marvin Miller Mayhew. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2025.

Janis had worked as a Qualified Medical Assistant for nursing homes including many years at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, Indiana. She had attended The Cross Church and currently Hope Community Church. She enjoyed reading, especially while traveling with her husband working as a long- haul trucker.

Survivors include her children, Jennifer Daine, Macy, Indiana, Cindy Martin, Rochester, Indiana, Dina Gearhart, Macy, Indiana, Jim (Janice) Jones, Rochester, Indiana, nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brother, Richard Tilden, Akron, Indiana, Nellene Rentschler, Fulton, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-laws, Michael Martin, Larry Gearhart, and Larry Daine.

Per her request, cremation will take place with private interment at Akron Cemetery, Akron, Indiana. Arrangements with Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com
