Jack Butts Obituary

Jack Lloyd Butts 81, of Naples, Florida, passed away comfortably on Thursday, October 28, 2021 in the presence of his loving family.
Jack was born July 10, 1940 to J. Lloyd Butts and Clara Annabelle (Tootie/GGB) Butts in Michigan City, Indiana.
Jack attended Purdue University where he graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Management in 1962. While attending Purdue, he was Student Body President, Cary Quadrangle President, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Iron Key, Scabbard & Blade; and he was on the President’s Council.  He was also in the ROTC.
After graduating from Purdue, Jack joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA and assigned as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer aboard the USS Uhlmann DD 687.
Jack married Ann Elaine Swihart on February 9, 1963.
Upon completion of his service in 1964, Jack and Ann moved to Valparaiso, Indiana where Ann completed her college degree in Education.
Jack was hired by Arthur Anderson (now known as Accenture) from 1965 to 1969, and he and Ann moved to Arlington Heights, Il. They later moved to Hinsdale, IL where they had their two sons Jason (1972) and Kevin (1976).
Jack completed his MBA at the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He made Partner in Charge in Arthur Anderson’s Chicago office.
In 1983 Jack and his family moved to Weston, MA where he was named Managing Partner for Anderson Consulting until 1990.  At this time Jack was transferred to Seoul, Korea where he was named Country Managing Partner of Northern Asia.  After living in Seoul for four years, Jack and Ann returned to the U.S., and he retired from Anderson Consulting in December of 1996.
He was also proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.
Post retirement Jack was an Adjunct Professor of Management Information Systems at C.H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University and an Adjunct Professor of Technology at J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
When not working Jack threw himself into a myriad of activities and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed traveling the world, riding his motorcycle, snow skiing, water skiing, bicycling, fishing, kayaking, and of course playing tennis and golf ~ his favorites.
He has been described as the truest of gentlemen and the kindest of souls.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Ann; his sister Barbara Savage of Peru, IN; his two sons, Jason (Amy) of Zionsville, IN, and Kevin (Renée) of Arlington, TN, his 3 grandchildren Alex, Teel, and Tinley and his 2 nieces, Jennifer DeGroff of Warsaw, IN and Erin Savage of Peru, IN and their families, as well as, the entire Swihart family of Indiana, Missouri and Tennessee
He will be interned at The Culver Masonic Cemetery next to his parents in Culver, Indiana, his home away from home.
