Eugene "Gene" Workman

Eugene “Gene” Workman 91, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 9:06 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Howard Community Hospital, Kokomo, Indiana.

He was born on July 3, 1930 in Augusta, Kentucky, the son of Thomas Albert and Alberta (Crawford) Workman. Gene married Diane Ruley and she preceded him in death in 1982. He then married Minnie (Rutherford) Colangelo and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2008.

After graduating from High School, Gene enlisted in the United States Army have served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Gene was stationed at various bases across the country as well in Germany. He retired from the Army in 1968. After retiring from the military, he worked in the state of Washington in the Lumber Industry. He eventually returned to the Midwest settling in Cincinnati, Ohio for many years before moving to Rochester, Indiana, to be closer to family.  In his spare time he enjoyed making model airplanes.

Survivors include his daughter, Kitten (Richard) Grimm, Rochester, Indiana, step-children, Tammy (Brian) Milne, Ashland, Ohio, Teresa Colangelo, Jennifer Colangelo, Nita Colangelo, Cindi Colangelo, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandchildren, Joseph (Mistie) Roberts, Charlestown, Indiana, Shawna (Michael) Canham, Daphne, Alabama, great grandchildren, Emily and Madilyn Canham, both of Daphne, Alabama, Madisyn and Alisyn Roberts, both of Charlestown, Indiana, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
