Frank David “Dave” Apt 74, Rochester, Indiana, passed away on January 23, 2022, at his residence. He is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Judie, his son, Brian D. Apt, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Kyle Apt, Quintin Allen, Lorna Apt, sister, Beth (Dan) Gilligan, Gainesville, Virginia, brother-in-law, Robert Veith, Indianapolis, Indiana, uncle, Joseph Catanzaro, Peru, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Millie Apt of Logansport and son, Jim Apt.
Dave was born in Peru, Indiana on October 11, 1947 and grew up in Logansport, Indiana. He graduated from Ball State University in 1972 and began his teaching career in Rochester as a teacher of Special Education as well as a resource teacher for other students in math and English.
His coaching career began at the Little League Park in town coaching minor league baseball and ended by coaching his granddaughter’s T-Ball team in Mentone, Indiana. During his years as a teacher, he coached high school football, wrestling, and baseball. He was the high school baseball coach for many years. After retiring, he spent as much time as he could fishing, tying flies, and enjoying other activities on Lake Manitou.
Private services will be observed at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Public Library or the Fulton County Youth Center on Main Street. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com
