Darlene L. Martin 91, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 10:44 A.M. Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport, Indiana.
She was born on June 28, 1932 in Fulton, Indiana, the daughter of Charles E. and Gertrude (Wichmann) Beattie. She married Lee Roy Hoehne in 1951 and they had two children, David and Darla. On February 22, 1975 at the Metea Baptist Church, she married Frederic S. “Steve” Martin and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2018.
Darlene had worked as a bookkeeper. She had worked for Public Service Indiana from 1964-1970, Torx-Camcar Rochester from 1970-1982 and for Mike Anderson Automotive in Logansport, Indiana from 1987-2000. After retiring, she had been a substitute school teacher at Caston and Rochester schools. She had been a member of Metea Baptist Church for over seventy years. She enjoyed cheering on the Caston Comets Athletic teams and sharing her excellent gardening and flower skills to family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Darla Jean (Robert) Kaminski, Lombard, Illinois, Mike Martin, Kokomo, Indiana, Kathy (Kristi) Stockberger, Rochester, Indiana, Lori Rochelle Higgins, Logansport, Indiana, grandchildren, Kristen (Andy) Dalton, Andrea (Luke) Stocking, Matt Coleman, Tawnie Ramer, Michelle Dotson, Jackie Robertson, Kerry Brouyette, great grandchildren, Natalie Stocking, Elin Stocking, Marek Stocking, Cameron Robertson, Jenna Robertson, Garrett Brouyette, Gaby Brouyette, Kaden Brouyette, Maddie Dalton, Abby Dalton, great-great grandchildren, Keegan Martin, Kase Brouyette, and Granger Brouyette, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Beattie, mother, Gertrude Emry, son, David Hoehne, siblings, Charles Junior Beattie, Gerald William Beattie, Donald L. Beattie, Dolores Irene Musselman and Sharon Louise Ness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 27, 2023 and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Metea Baptist Cemetery, Cass County, Indiana.
