Daniel J. DeCrow 74, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 2:27 A.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at his residence.

He was born on June 15, 1950 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Ramon and Lois (Wilson) DeCrow. Dan grew up in Crown Point, Indiana, eventually moving to Valparaiso, Indiana, where he graduated from high school. After graduation, he enlisted with the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.

After serving with the U.S. Army, Dan retuned home and was granted an apprenticeship at U.S. Steel where he received a welders journeyman license. He additionally worked at Allied Structural Steel in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from the first Industrial Medical Technicians course in the United States. He later moved to Florida where he graduated from Palm Beach Junior College as an E.M.T. He worked for Atlantic Ambulance as an E.M.T. and field training officer. He married Alice (Bregg) Peet on July 14, 2018 and she survives.

Dan was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles, volunteer for E.M.A., Fulton County Veterans’ Honor Guard and V.F.W. Chaplain. He was a twenty-nine-year member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club of Anderson, Indiana. He had been a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alice DeCrow, Rochester, Indiana, granddaughter, Kylah (Quinn) Brown, Warsaw, Indiana, great-granddaughters, Evaline and Lillian Brown, Warsaw, Indiana, step-son, Chase Peet, Rochester, Indiana, sister, Debbie Whittington, Walkerton, Indiana, nieces, Michele (P.J.) O’Connor, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Emily Whittington, Walkerton, Indiana, great nieces, Teagan O’Connor, Peyton O’Connor, and Delaney O’Connor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only son, Staff Sgt. Justin M. DeCrow, a victim of the mass shooting at Fort Hood Army Base in 2009, and brother-in-law, Mike Whittington.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:15 P.M. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana, where the Fulton County Veterans’ Honor Guard and United States Army will perform military rites. Friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Fulton Community Center, 204 E. Dunn Street, Fulton, Indiana. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros.
