Bishop Richard A. Ritter Sr. 80, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 2:02 A.M. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Indiana.
He was born on January 15, 1942 in Plymouth, Indiana, the son of Bishop Armond A. and Betty Jane (Nitcher) Ritter. On November 2, 1960 in Bourbon, Indiana, he married Annetta Vires and she survives.
He retired from the Chrysler Corporation after twenty five years of service and had worked security for Rochester Metals for a few years after retirement. He had served for over thirty two years as Bishop with the Apostolic Pentecostal Church and had been a huge supporter of Israel, Native American and Disabled American Veterans charities. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing on the computer, Bible studies and writing about the Bible.
Survivors include his wife, Annetta Ritter, Rochester, Indiana, children, Damita Jo (Donnie) Taylor, Lake Station, Indiana, Richard A. (Mary) Ritter Jr., Rochester, Indiana, James Ritter, Logansport, Indiana, Stephen Paul (Kim) Ritter, Kewanna, Indiana, Marcus A. (Companion Amy Dingess) Ritter, Laketon, Indiana, twelve grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, sisters, Ruth (Donald) Bean, Argos, Indiana, Carole Jones, Rochester, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Annabelle Ryleigh Ritter, brother, Bishop Robert G. Ritter Sr. and sister, Rev. Martha Buckner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday January 28, 2022, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, Indiana.
