Annetta Ritter Obituary

Annetta (Vires) Ritter 80, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 10:18 P.M. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was born on March 15, 1943 in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Pierce and Nannie (Wright) Vires. On November 2, 1960 in Bourbon, Indiana, she married Bishop Richard A. Ritter Sr. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2022.

Annetta had worked as a seamstress for many years at Hart, Schaffner and Marx retiring from there and later worked at Life Care Center of Rochester. She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church and is remembered as a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, watching Hallmark Movies, reading, and was a fan of country music especially, Elvis Presley, Randy Travis, Hank Williams and Willie Nelson.

Survivors include her children, Damita Jo Taylor, Lake Station, Indiana, Richard A. (Mary) Ritter Jr., Rochester, Indiana, James Ritter, Logansport, Indiana, Stephen Paul (Kim) Ritter, Kewanna, Indiana, Marcus A. (Companion Amy Dingess) Ritter,  Laketon, Indiana, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, sister, Betty Houin, Argos, Indiana, Deloris Doody, Culver, Indiana, brothers, Haroldean Vires, South Bend, Indiana, Pierce Vires Jr., Argos, Indiana, Bernard Vires, Argos, Indiana, Larry (Rhonda) Vires, Argos, Indiana, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James Arthur Vires, Ewen Vires, Charles Vires, sister, Rhoda Hensley, grandchild, Anna belle Ryleigh Ritter, and son-in-law, Donald Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Thursday May 25, 2023 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, Indiana.
