Amy Onstott Obituary

Amy Louise Onstott, 79, Chicago, Illinois and formerly of Rochester, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021, peacefully at home. She was born June 23, 1941 in Rochester, Indiana to Harry L. and Edith Ann (Bradley) Onstott.

She moved to Chicago, Illinois in the early 1960’s and was a stay-at-home mom until 1978 when she went to work in the Cranial- Facial Surgical Department at U.I.C. Hospital as a transcriber, where she retired in 2005.

Amy loved music (especially Elvis and classical), art, genealogy, and spending time with family. She was fun-loving, supportive, and always there for her children. She had a thirst for knowledge and loved learning about different cultures. Her sense of humor and love of reading was passed onto her 4 children. She especially loved visiting Washington, DC where she worked for the Navy Department for a short time before moving to Chicago.

Amy faced many challenges in her life, but she met each one with courage and determination. No matter what she went through, she turned the situation into a positive and never allowed anything to hold her back. Even after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 77, she fought with everything she had. Amy was a warrior. And she will be remembered as someone who fought as long and hard as she could.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four of her nine siblings: Phyllis A. Heminger, Florence L. Scott, David B. Onstott, and Stephen D. Onstott.

She is survived by her four children; Alicia Marie (Antonio Sr.) Morado, Rudy Gonzalez Jr., Michael David Gonzalez, Katherine Ann Onstott, seven grandchildren; Amanda, Antonio Jr. (Jessie Morado), Alex, Andrew, and Abigail, Giselle, Yasmine and her great-grandson, Aiden, sisters, Phoebe J. Lykowski, South Bend, Indiana, Susan J. Onstott, Rochester, Indiana, Helen I. Slisher, Rochester, Indiana, brothers, James O. (Vicki) Onstott, Rochester, Indiana and Paul A.
