Richard Allen Bounsall

Richard Allen Bounsall 84, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 A.M. Thursday November 1, 2018 at Hickory Creek of Rochester.

He was born on March 9, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Leonard and Evelyn (Allen) Bounsall. After graduating from Broad Ripple High School, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy serving honorably for six years. On June 6, 1959 in Mishawaka, Indiana, he married Marjorie Miller and she survives.

Richard served as manager for 3D Department Stores having worked in Indianapolis, Vincennes, Indiana and Illinois before coming to Rochester, Indiana in 1987. He owned and operated Bounsall’s Shoe Store in Rochester, Indiana until his retirement. After retiring from the shoe store, he worked for Edward Jones, Life Care Center of Rochester and Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Homes.

He was a member of the Rochester Lions Club, having served as past President,  Rochester Retail Merchants, Trinity United Methodist Church and Council on Aging serving as Treasurer for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, sports, had been a season ticketholder for Notre Dame Women’s basketball for many years and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Bounsall, Rochester, Indiana, sons, Phillip and wife Judi Bounsall, Carmel, Indiana, Jeffrey Bounsall and partner Larry Jack, Sylvan Lake, Michigan, grandchildren, Lauren Bounsall and Michael Bounsall, Carmel, Indiana, sister, Lueva and husband Harold Francis, Carmel, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Sunday November 4, 2018 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 3-6 P.M. Saturday and one hour prior to service Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard.
