Patricia S. Henning 90, Donaldson, Indiana and formerly of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 4:10 P.M. Thursday August 31, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus, Plymouth, Indiana.

She was born on August 24, 1927 in Elwood, Indiana. She grew up in the home of her grandparents, Robert and Blanche Hansberry in Clear Springs, Indiana. She attended Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and later completed her education in Crown Point, Indiana.

In 1947, she married John D. Henning. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1992.

It was during her time living in southwestern Lake County that she became an active community volunteer and developed many life-long relationships. She was active with her Homemakers Club, the Women’s Guild of Lake Prairie Presbyterian Church, the Regional Crisis Hot-Line and Meals on Wheels. When she and her late husband retired to Rochester, Indiana, she volunteered with the Cancer association. She also worked at ElTippWa, an adult education program. Mrs. Henning was an avid reader and stalwart advocate of education. She enjoyed frogs, rocks and geology. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon (Richard) Rahdert, West Lafayette, Indiana, Carole Conners, Granger, Indiana, son, Gregory (Ruby) Henning, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Carlo, South Bend, Indiana, Ryan (Cati) Conners, Bristol, Indiana, John (Sally) Carlson, Noblesville, Indiana, Geoffrey (Kelsey) Carlson, Otterbein, Indiana, Michell, Vanessa and Madison Henning, all of Rochester, Indiana, great grandchildren, Nicholas (Alex) Carlo, Granger, Indiana, Matthew and Austin Carlo, South Bend, Indiana, Ella and Ava Carlson, Noblesville, Indiana, Hunter Levi and Rhen Mabel Carlson, Otterbein, Indiana, Colleen and Andria Conners, Bristol, Indiana, sister, Sara Rising, Humble, Texas and brother, John Fairfield, San Diego, California. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Hansberry Fairfield, son, J. Richard “Rich” Henning and grandson, Paul A. Conners.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 5, 2017 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Reichter Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Public Library or to the Donor’s favorite Charity.
