Norman L. Oestermyer

Norman L. Oestermyer 89, Dugger, Indiana and formerly of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 11:59 A.M. Sunday February 25, 2018 at his daughter’s residence in Dugger, Indiana.

He was born on October 2, 1928 in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Alfred and Evelyn (Butler) Oestermyer. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On September 11, 1948 in LaPorte, Indiana, he married Jeanette Hakes. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2016.

Mr. Oestermyer had been a welder for Modien Manufacturing in LaPorte, Indiana. He had also lived in Roswell, New Mexico for over fourteen years. He was a member of the Cross Church, Rochester, Indiana and had been an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts in LaPorte, Indiana, Rochester, Indiana and in Roswell, New Mexico serving on the Honor Guard at each Post. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, fishing, having coffee with his buddies and socializing with friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Deborah and husband Richard A. Rennier, Dugger, Indiana, step grandchildren, Richard Rennier, Wanatah, Indiana, Lisa Rennier, Portage, Indiana, brother, Gene and wife Marcie Oestermyer, Lubbock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Vincent Oestermyer and sister, Virginia Monroe.

Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Wednesday February 28, 2018 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. to Noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana, where military graveside services will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans Organization of your choice.
