Maryanna Kuziela Obituary

Maryanna C. Kuziela, forever 39, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 2:54 P.M. Saturday May 5, 2018 at her residence.

She was born on November 6, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Frances (Cieslak) Kopaczewski. She served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On February 14, 1946 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, she married Anthony E. Kuziela. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1997.

Mrs. Kuziela had worked for Corporation Council for the City of Chicago as an Administrative Assistant. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester, St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, Chicago, where she was active in the Mother’s Club and was a longtime volunteer at Woodlawn Hospital. 

Survivors include her children, Christine (Paul) Dytrych, Frankfort, Illinois, Linda (Robert) Crusing, Kempner, Texas, Cynthia Kuziela (Gerardo Villanueva), Chesterton, Indiana, Thaddeus “Ted” (Colleen) Kuziela, Naperville, Illinois, Lynette “Petunia”(Albert) Castellano, Rochester, Indiana, James (Anne) Kuziela, Chicago, Illinois, daughter-in-law, Hilarie Kuziela Crews, Lafayette, Indiana, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephan Kuziela, brother, Walter Kopaczewski, sisters, Lottie Wengren and Helen Kopera.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday May 9, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael McKinney officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:45 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, Indiana, where military graveside services will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodlawn Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
