My father and I knew Marquitta for a good number of years and later on,I knew Connie as well! I would see both of them often,as Connie worked in the kitchen at the truck stop. I am very sorry to hear of they're passing.

I always loved Aunt Marquie's openness and opinions, you knew immediately where you stood with her. She has always pushed us to achieve our best in life. A true mentor, friend and although no relation, adoptive Aunt.

Imagine the shock on customer's faces when a semi or dump truck pulled up and a woman driver back in the 1950's and 1960's, when a woman's place was in the home. She was tough as nails! and kept the male counterparts in their place.

Yet, she was most loving and forgiving with family and friends. Always a light on and a pot of coffee... "sit down and talk a while..." she would say. You always knew the visits you thought maybe a half an hour would turn into a half a day affair.

I will always have fond memories and treasure forever and ever. Rest in peace! You will be missed! May God bless you and family forever.
