Carolyn Sue Smith

Carolyn Sue Smith 87, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:35 A.M. Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Life Care Center of Rochester.

She was born on July 2, 1930 in Akron, Indiana, the daughter of Odie M. and Nona (Van Lue) Keesey. On April 21, 1950 in Rochester, Indiana, she married William A. Smith. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1997.

Mrs. Smith had worked as a grocery clerk at the former Wilts and Lynn’s Grocery Stores in Rochester as well as bookkeeper for her husband at Smitty’s Lakeside Marina. She had been a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge. She enjoyed bingo, flowers and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Wheadon, Rochester, Indiana, grandson, Jim Wheadon, Rochester, Indiana, great grandchildren, Cree Wheadon, Macy, Indiana, Wade Wheadon, Rochester, Indiana, great –great grandchildren, Isaiah Wheadon, Kain Wheadon and Zayden Wheadon, all of Macy, Indiana, sisters, Patricia Stansbury, Rochester, Indiana, Janet White, Rochester, Indiana, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Laurie Wheadon, sisters, Doris Ellis, Mable Florence Baber, Helen Putterbaugh, Evelyn Miller, Ruby Cumberland, Kathryn Hatch, brothers, Robert Dean Keesey, Raymond Keesey and Fred Keesey.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday April 9, 2018 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 2-5 P.M. Sunday April 8, 2018 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Mooseheart or to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center.
