Beth C. Oliver

Beth C. Oliver 77, formerly of Rochester, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Thursday April 26, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah after an extended illness. Loving daughter Kelly Sweat was by her side until the end.

Beth was born in Rochester on February 3, 1941, to Dr. Charles and Ruth (Downs) Richardson. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1959, and was married to Robert Oliver in 1962. She attended Indiana University and graduated in 1969 with a degree in sociology.

Beth was a caring mother and did her best to support the needs and potential of her children, and was proud of them as adults. She enjoyed being around others and was very attuned to people’s situations and thoughts. She was a gentle soul but also appreciated good humor, occasionally joining her daughter and friends at a local comedy club.

She will be greatly missed, especially in the mornings with her daily ritual of strong coffee and strawberry jam toast.

Beth is survived by her three children – Philip Oliver (Indiana), Justin Oliver (Maryland), and Kelly Sweat (Utah). She is also survived by former husband Robert Oliver, and by five grandchildren.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Please come prepared to share in love, laughter, and tears. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.
