Thomas L. Haworth, 72, West Lafayette, formerly of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:43 P.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.

He and his twin brother, Richard L. were born on December 2, 1943 in Rochester, Indiana, the sons of Max and Martha (Dreher) Haworth. His twin brother passed away in May of 1946. Tom had three other brothers to share his life with.

He was a proud member of the Rochester High School class of 1962. Tom graduated from Ball State Teacher’s College in 1966. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the United States Army from 1966-1968.

After discharge from the Army, he spent time living and working in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In 1972, he moved to Lafayette, Indiana where he spent the rest of his years building lifelong friendships with many co-workers and friends. In 1975, he was hired by Purdue University as the Human Resource Employment Interviewer. In 1978, he became Purdue University Human Resource Manager of the Libraries and Audio Visual Center. Tom retired in February 2010.

Tom was a proud member of the American Legion Post 11 in Lafayette, Indiana. He also served as chairman of the Trips and Tours Committee of the Purdue Retirees Association.

Tom is survived by his two brothers, Bob and wife Linda Haworth, Rochester, Bill and wife Norma Haworth, Naperville, Illinois, and a sister-in-law, Kate Haworth, Rochester. Tom is survived by his nieces. Jennifer (Brian) Haworth Richter, Rochester, Anne Marie (Mark)  Haworth  McGriff, Greenwood, Lisa  (Michael) Haworth Malone, Waxhaw, North Carolina, Lora (Lee) Haworth White, Indianapolis, Karen (Michael) Haworth McGriff, Naperville, Illinois, and a nephew Steve (Laura) Haworth, San Ramon, California, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother. Also preceding Tom was his brother John, who passed away in April of 2016.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday August 22, 2016 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana with Rev. Junior Bose officiating.  Visitation will be held at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana on Sunday August 21, 2016 from 2-6 P.M. and from 10-10:45 A.M. on Monday. 

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.
