Richard L. Waltz 78, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday May 24, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on December 29, 1937 in Talma, Indiana, the son of John and Hazel (Clay) Waltz. On January 20, 1961 in Kewanna, Indiana, he married Karen L. Summers and she survives.

Richard graduated in 1955 from Richland Center High School where he was a member of the basketball team. A farmer all his life, he had also worked for Sutters Dairy as a milkman early in life, before eventually retiring from Sealed Power in Rochester. Richard had been a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, Fulton County Historical Power Association, the United Auto Workers Union and he had also been active in the Horse Club.  In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, antique tractors, horses, shuffleboard, playing cards, working on his farm and he enjoyed riding around his farm on his golf cart with his dog.

Survivors include his wife, Karen L. Waltz, Rochester, Indiana, children, Tracy and wife Vicki Waltz, Rochester, Indiana, Terry L. and wife Lisa Lynn Waltz,  Rochester, Indiana,  grandchildren, Lee Waltz, Rochester, Indiana, Gage and wife Stephanie Waltz, Lebanon, Tennessee, step-granddaughter, Holli and husband Carlos Mares, Akron, Indiana, step-great grandchildren, Hayden Smith, Daphine and Xavier Mares, all of Akron, Indiana, brother, Byron and wife Sue Waltz, Rochester, Indiana, sister, Irene Montague, Cape Coral, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Richard Waltz, sisters, Marjorie Gibbons, Patsy Waltz, Betty L. Fawley, and Esther Jean Hawk.

No services will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center or Cause for Paws. Arrangements are by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Indiana. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanbrosfh.com
