LaBerta Marie Patch LaTurner 97, Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, Indiana, and formerly of Argos, Indiana, passed away at 10:00 A.M. Saturday January 2, 2016 in Culver.

She was born on April 10, 1918 in Sand Creek, Montana, the daughter of Lee Hall and Olive (Simons) Thornburg. She attended Lone Pine School in that area and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1936. She then graduated from Kennedy Deaconess Hospital in Havre, Montana and worked there as a registered nurse.

LaBerta married Stanley Lynd Patch on December 24, 1940 in Sand Creek, Montana. They later moved to Culbertson, Montana, where their children attended school. LaBerta worked at the new twelve bed hospital in Culbertson.

In 1957, the family moved to Nyona Lake, Indiana, where she worked for Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, Indiana for twenty six years before retiring in April of 1983. Her husband Stanley Patch preceded her in death on June 8, 1966. On November 9, 1979, she married Francis Eugene LaTurner of Argos where she then made her home. Francis preceded her in death on December 16, 1996.

LaBerta was a member of Parkside Community Church (Argos Bible Church) Argos, Indiana, and enjoyed painting, writing poetry, quilting, reading, making rice bags and pillows.

Survivors include her children, Janie and husband Jim Mechling, Argos, Indiana, Diana Patch, Holland, Michigan, Keith and wife Jane Patch, Osteen, Florida, step-children, Robert and wife Mary LaTurner, Normal, Illinois, Karen Alison, Kokomo, Indiana, son-in-law, John Fry, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Glenda Mechling-Smith and husband Bill, Argos, Indiana, Michael and wife Delane Mechling, Lafayette, Colorado, Jeff Patch, California, Brian Patch and companion Melissa, California, Lori Fry and Companion Rodney Young, Rochester, Indiana, Lisa Fry, Richman Hills, Georgia, Brady Patch, Holland, Michigan, great grandchildren, Kelton Fry, Courtney Fry, Kiah Fry, Krista Fry, all of Rochester, Indiana, James Mechling Smith, Argos, Indiana, Tristan Patch, Holland, Michigan, Brianna Mechling and Alexa Mechling, Lafayette, Colorado, great-great grandchildren, Iro Fry and Raylee Fry, both of Rochester, Indiana, Sueann (Rick) Vandermyden, Elk Grove California, great grandchildren, Courtney and Tori Vandermyden, Elk Grove, California, and seven step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, daughter, Marilyn Fry in 2014 and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Parkside Community Church, 210 South Maple, Argos, Indiana. Friends may call from 9-11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana.
