John R. Schneider 67, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 8:30 A.M. Monday May 9, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on August 15, 1948 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of John M. and Ruth Sophia (Roesner) Schneider. On January 24, 1970 at St. James Catholic Church in Evansville, Indiana, he married Ruth E. Seib and she survives. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering and received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Evansville. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War as well as serving with the Indiana National Guard.

John started his working career at Bucyrus-Erie in Evansville, Indiana. He had also worked for Cooper Energy Services in Grove City, Pennsylvania for fifteen years. He had been Vice President of Fulton Industries in Rochester, Indiana and retired from the Rochester Community School Corporation as Business Manager. He had also taught part-time at Ancilla College teaching economics and business statistics. After retiring, he worked at the Akron Church of God and for John’s Flooring and Coverings. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Circus City Corvette Club, Peru, Indiana and had served as a Board Member for the Fulton County United Way. In his spare time he loved working on restoring his 1948 Ford Pick up Truck and his corvette.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. Schneider, Rochester, Indiana, son, Chris and wife Terra Schneider, West Jefferson, Ohio, daughter, Julie and husband Steve Oliver, Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, grandchildren, Canyon Schneider and Colston Schneider, West Jefferson, Ohio, Paige Oliver, Claire Oliver and Lauren Oliver, Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania and sister, Mary McGrew, Evansville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Cox.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 14, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester, Indiana, with Rev. Mike McKinney officiating. Friends may visit from 4-8 P.M. Friday and from 9-9:45 A.M. Saturday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Friday.  Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.
