John W. Haworth 68, Rochester, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at 5:25 P.M. Tuesday April 12, 2016 at his home. John was a lifelong Rochester resident.

He was born on September 8, 1947 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Max and Martha (Dreher) Haworth, the youngest brother of four siblings. John graduated from Rochester High School in 1966. He was a retired third generation building contractor.

John started his own contracting business in 1971 at the age of 23. In his profession, John was known for his skilled perfection. His work ethic was impeccable.

In John’s younger school days, he enjoyed spending time at the local roller rink with friends. He later found the love of the game of pool. In high school, he was known as “the local shark”. He spent many happy hours at the Chalk N Cue.

On May 4, 1968 in Rochester, Indiana, he married his high school sweetheart Kate Young, who survives. John and Kate enjoyed working together renovating their one hundred plus year old home, as well as cultivating a beautiful landscape to set it off. They enjoyed traveling together with their family and later with friends or just each other. John was an avid dog lover since his childhood. He had many throughout his life. Most recently, John enjoyed his time spent with his beagle, Marley.

After John’s retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He had his "Breakfast” pals and his afternoon McDonald’s coffee pals. Many "world problems" were solved at those gatherings!

John and Kate’s union produced two daughters, who were the love of his life, Anne Marie and husband Mark McGriff, Greenwood, Indiana and Jennifer and husband Brian Richter, Rochester, Indiana, his three grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Nicolas and Blake Richter, Rochester, Indiana and Hannah McGriff, Greenwood, Indiana. He is also survived by his three brothers, Bill and wife Norma Haworth, Naperville, Illinois, Bob and wife Linda Haworth, Rochester, Indiana and Tom Haworth, West Lafayette, Indiana, several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dickie L. Haworth, mother-in-law, Anne Allison.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Saturday April 16, 2016 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana, with Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center or to Compassionate Health Care.
