Irene C. Mahoney 86, formerly of Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 2:04 P.M. Tuesday July 4, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Southfield, MI.

She was born on September 16, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John and Hattie (Golding) Hubers. On May 26, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, she married Thomas E. Mahoney. He preceded her in death 2005.

Mrs. Mahoney had been a homemaker and also had worked at the former First National Bank and Helt Realty as a Real Estate Agent, both in Rochester. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and an active member with the Fulton County Democrats Women’s Club.

Survivors include her children, Thomas John and wife Mary Mahoney, Elmwood Park, Illinois, Barbara and husband Mike Deniston, South Bend, Indiana, Margaret Ann “Peggy” and husband Dave Ewick, Southfield, Michigan, Robert Alan Mahoney and partner Russ Barefield, Evanston, Illinois; grandchildren, Kevin Mahoney, Katie Mahoney, Chip Tate, Joanie Tate, Joey Ewick; great grandchildren Gabriel Klare, Madilyn Tate, McKenna Mahoney and Finn Mahoney. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and a brother.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Irene requested donations be made to the National Wildlife Federation or perform a random act of kindness in her memory.
