David B. Eckelbarger 86, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 6:25 A.M. Sunday October 30, 2016 at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on October 26, 1930 in Miami County, Indiana, the son of Clarence and Mary (Miller) Eckelbarger. David served with the United States Army during the Korean War as Corporal earning three Bronze Stars and a Red Stripe Ribbon.

In 1976, in he married Agnes Eileen (Friedrich) Langenbahn and she survives.

David retired from the United States Postal Service as Postmaster. After retirement, he worked numerous years for H & R Block Tax services having been an enrolled agent for both H & R Block and the Internal Revenue Service. He was a longtime dedicated member of the Rochester Lions Club where he had served two terms as President and building rental chairperson. He also had attended Westside Apostolic Church. In his spare time, he loved to work on cars and during the Christmas season, he loved to decorate his house, often creating the most luminated house in town.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen Eckelbarger, Rochester, Indiana, children, Victoria and husband Ted Phillips, Rochester, Indiana, Karen and husband Kevin Hendry, Gulfport, Mississippi, Faron and wife Debbie Eckelbarger, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Rhonda Kauffman, Bremen, Indiana, Justin Eckelbarger, Rochester, Indiana, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brothers, Joseph and wife Donna Eckelbarger, Peru, Indiana, Jerry Eckelbarger, Kokomo, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ramona Jane Waller in 2006, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, December 2, 2016 and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Citizen’s Cemetery, Rochester, where Military Graveside Honors will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rochester Lions Club, Manitou Training Center or to Special Olympics. Arrangements by Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana.
